Hana is 45 years old.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2017. Both her husband and sister passed away from cancer. Hana has had an allergic reaction to most of the medication and contracted MRSA in the hospital. Hana has not been able to work and is fearful of losing her house.


Kelly D.Granted $1,122.95 for Mortgage

Kelly is a 49 year old mother of one. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and her treatment team chose to begin with aggressive Chemotherapy in September and in five months, if there is progress in shrinking the cancer, they will begin her surgical options. Kelly is union glazier, Cleveland Local 181, and is the first woman to complete the apprenticeship program and become a journeyman glazier. She has been working in the field for over 17 years.  Unfortunately, due to the hazards and demanding nature of her job, her doctors said she can not work.  “I am at a complete loss, totally overwhelmed. I have spent my entire life working hard to provide for my family”. Kelly is appreciative of any assistance.


Jessica G. Granted $564.93 for Medical Bills

Jessica is 36 years old.  She was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in August 2004 at the age of 22.  She completed a round of treatment and was in remission until 2009. Jessica found a lymph node in her neck and thus began her journey with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer- the cancer came back in her lungs, lymph nodes and chest wall. Jessica’s mother also had cancer and they fought together; unfortunately her mother passed away 15 months later but Jessica continues to fight in her honor.
Jessica taught 2nd grade for 14 years but is unable to continue to work. 



Valerie H.Granted $650 for Rent

Valerie is a 46 year old mother of four. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010.  She went through four months of treatment and at the same time, she decided to put herself through nursing school.  She graduated from Kent State in 2015. Shortly after graduation, she had a seizure at home where it was discovered her cancer metastasized to her brain. She had the tumor removed and started radiation.  Valerie passed her NCLEX Exam and became a nurse. Valerie got a job in a nursing home and works hard at doing her job well. It's satisfying to make her own pay check and show her kids that working hard does pay off. In late July, Valerie developed a cough and it was discovered she had a pericardial effusion.  She underwent surgery and was just informed her cancer metastasized to her lung lining, lymph nodes, etc. 
After years of hard work, Valerie is doubtful she will be able to return to work. Any assistance will be greatful and appreciative.


Mary L. Granted $961.05 for Medical Bills

Mary is 69 years old. In November 2016 she had her annual mammogram done and to her surprise, it was abnormal and she was informed she had breast cancer. In January 2017, she underwent surgery and was informed she had invasive ductal carcinoma, Stage 1, and Mary underwent treatment. In June Mary went to the ER with a blood clot in her left leg and as a result, underwent months of treatment for her heart. Mary’s husband also has medical needs and she is their primary caregiver. “Besides the physical toll this has taken on my body, the emotional stress it has caused is immense”. 

Anonymous Granted $400 for Medical Bills

59 years old mother of one. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2017. Her grandson lives with her and she took her brother in after he had a stroke. She was off work and accumulated additional expenses.
